RECEPTION AND ORIENTATION SERVICE

This service has existed since the hospital was founded. Specific equipment includes computers, bathroom scales, baby scales, blood pressure monitors, poupinel, glucometer, etc.
The various services offered by the department are: reception, orientation, information, taking of parameters, distribution of notebooks, minor surgery and care.
Sister Nyclette is the service’s current major, and the doctor in charge is Dr CHEUFFA Erwan. The service operates from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Meetings and service reports are held monthly. The department takes on academic trainees on an infrequent basis, depending on what schools send us, and receives around 6 advanced trainees a year.

MEDICINE AND SURGERY DEPARTMENT

Formerly the Hospitalization Department, it changed its name at the beginning of 2023, with Mr GOUYAMSA AYOUBA Nasser as Department Major, Dr NJIE in charge of Medicine and Dr AKANA Alex in charge of Surgery.
Service hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. for on-call duty. The various services offered by the department are: taking parameters, administering medication, awareness-raising, education, dressing advice and monitoring of patients undergoing surgery, and discharge of patients. It has a capacity of 55 beds.
Service meetings and reports are held once a month.

THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Initially this service existed but was integrated into the Hospitalization department, it has been
autonomous since November 2018. It is managed by Sr YVONNE.
The equipment used in this department includes a blood pressure monitor, stethoscope and oximeter.

Service hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with 3 staff and
a doctor.
The services provided include: patient observation, taking of parameters, venous
parameters, taking venous lines, administering medication, education and
advice.
Meetings and service reports are held monthly.

HYGIENE AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT

This department has existed since the opening of the hospital, when it was known as the housekeeping department, and is managed by Mr. MPEI ABECK Ariel France.

The equipment used by this service: washing machine, iron, sewing machine, wheelchairs, buckets and mops.

The services provided are: cleaning, laundry, i.e. processing of hospital linen, stretchering and discipline, preparation of hospital linen and staff gowns, miscellaneous services (green areas).

Service hours are: 7:30am-1:00pm, 3:00pm-10:00pm for cleaning, 7:30am-3:30pm, 12:00pm-8:00pm and 8:00pm-7:30am for laundry and 7:30am-3:30pm for stretchering.

ONCOLOGY AND PALLIATIVE CARE DEPARTMENT

Palliative Care Unit (PCU)

Description

The USP has a capacity of 10 beds in 5 fairly comfortable rooms with internal toilets. An on-call room

A multi-purpose room with a secretariat, library, store and a relaxation area with a fridge, microwave and corridor. This space is used not only for providing kitchen services to patients, but also for staff relaxation. A social room opening onto the outside.

How it works

The services offered by the department are based on a palliative care model with three main components: inpatient care, outpatient care and home base care.

The USP is open 24/7. It welcomes patients with serious progressive illnesses and offers them supportive treatment to improve their quality of life.

Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team made up of :

The team works on a rota system to ensure continuity of care 24 hours a day.

L’Unité d’Oncologie (UO)

Presentation

The oncology unit opened its doors in September 2017. It is a CHDSMP department that cares for cancer patients at every stage of their illness: diagnosis, treatment and patient follow-up

Description

The UO includes at the entrance 01 consultation office) a room for the preparation and storage of cytostatics, a room called “club” containing armchairs for short administrations, a room with beds for relatively long treatments or for people whose general condition requires a certain comfort and at the end a patient registration station (computer station).

How it works

The UO is open Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Work schedule

Monday, Tuesday and Friday: Reception of former patients

Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays: Filing of files with the secretariat for data entry.

An oncologist consults in this department every Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

GYNECOLOGY DEPARTMENT

It has been in existence since February 8, 2018, when it was known as the Maternity Ward. It is managed by Mr. NJIAKI Hermann.

The department uses the following equipment: examination beds, monitoring, delivery tables, suction cup, pinard stethoscope, radiant, heating table, baby scale, delivery box, dressing box, cervical suture box, suction equipment, scialytic lamp, portable ultrasound machine, stretcher, wheelchair. It has a capacity of 35 beds and 10 chairs.

The department is made up of 4 teams working from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 a.m. in the delivery room, from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in ANC, and from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in post-natal care.

Our services include prenatal consultation, childbirth preparation, delivery, caesarean sections, postnatal consultation, gynecological surgery and vaccinations,

Meetings and service reports are held once a month.

The department receives an average of 50 academic trainees per year and 3 to 4 advanced trainees per year. For many years, the department has received 1 volunteer.

PEDIATRICS AND NEONATHALOGY DEPARTMENT

These two services are autonomous since November 2018, its Major is Mrs DJUIGNE WABO Nathalie and as doctor in charge of the service Dr SIHOM Pauline (Pediatrician).

Its specific equipment we have; oxygen extractor, carts, nebulizer, incubators. They have a capacity of 44 beds and both departments have a total of 30 stools.

Service hours are from 7.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (two permanent staff working from Monday to Friday) and 1 on-call staff from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 a.m.

Pediatrics and neonatology services include: hospitalization, nebulization, lumbar puncture, dressings, care, feeding, toileting, parent education, incubator.

We have 2 state-qualified nurses on duty from Monday to Friday (7.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.), one night nurse and one weekend nurse. The department has 2 pediatricians and 1 general practitioner.

One of the pediatricians and a general practitioner go on rounds at 7:30 a.m., while the other pediatrician starts the outpatient consultation. Care is provided at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm and 6am.

This department also receives patients who are interned for treatment, and releases patients whose discharge is authorized by the doctor during the rounds. It collects test results for transmission to the doctor.

UPEC SERVICE

It was set up in October 2008. Its major is Mr MAYANG Emmanuel and the department coordinator is Dr CHEUKAK Jocelyne.
The equipment used here is computers, but the department has only one functional one, and office chairs.
Opening hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The department focuses on HIV awareness, treatment enrolment, clinical, biological and psychological monitoring, and follow-up of TB patients.
1. HIV testing awareness
This takes place within the hospital and with the families of HIV-positive patients.
2. Treatment enrolment
This is carried out by the PSAs present at each hospital entrance, in order to link anyone found to be HIV-positive to treatment. The test-and-treat strategy is applied.

3. Clinical follow-up

4. Biological follow-up

5. Psychosocial follow-up
Patient counseling, ETP (therapeutic education), psycho-education, relaxation, IEC, search for those lost to follow-up, child-adult support group.
6. TB follow-up
Screening and treatment of all forms of tuberculosis.

SURGERY UNIT

It comprises the Operating Theatre and Anesthesia and Intensive Care departments. Its manager Dr AKANA Alex

Equipment consists mainly of an image intensifier, electric scalpel, vacuum cleaner, electron microscope, phaco, operating tables, instrument box, 2 beds, 8 chairs and 4 stools.

Opening hours are 07:30-15:30 and 15:30-7:30, with 4 daytime staff and 1 on-call person.

The services offered are various surgeries. Meetings are held monthly, and service reports once a month. It receives an average of 10 academic trainees per year and 2 advanced trainees per year, with 3 specialized training courses per year. Volunteers visit from time to time. The department has two general surgeons

Meetings are occasional, and service reports are monthly. The department receives an average of 3 academic trainees per month and 3 advanced trainees per year, and volunteers around 1 to 2 per year.

OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY DEPARTMENT

This department comprises the ANC + vaccination room, the delivery room and the hospital ward.

  • Monday: examination reading + ultrasound, 6-day and 6-week postnatal consultations, birth registration, vaccination.
  • Tuesday: ANC + educational talk
  • Wednesday: ANC (1st visit, the laboratory service is present for HIV sampling) + educational talk
